Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks, proud member club of the Western Hockey League, shared today that the Buffalo Sabres have returned forward Tyson Kozak to Portland for the upcoming 2021-22 season.

Kozak, preparing for his 19-year-old season, attended his first NHL training camp with his new club in New York. The Souris, Manitoba native was originally selected by the Sabres in the seventh round (#193 overall) of this summer's 2021 NHL Draft.

The Winterhawks 2019-20 Rookie of the Year is now entering his third season in Portland. The two-way centerman has played 86 WHL games, totaling 16 goals and 24 assists for 40 points.

The Portland Winterhawks begin their 46th season of play on October 1 and will host Seattle on Saturday, October 2 for the team's Pacific Office Automation home opener.
