Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - Usually a team covets league records, but with a 3-1 loss Friday night in Laredo, the Brahmas hold the current longest losing streak on the road at five games.

An evenly matched game was what Texas needed in order to break their four game losing road skid, but after 16 minutes in the opening period Bucks forward Todd Griffith dismantled the Brahmas powerplay with an unassisted shorthanded goal. In order to stay in the game, Texas' rookie netminder Joe Palmer had to come up with the big saves, but it was a lost rebound two minutes after the Laredo first tally that gave the Bucks the 2-0 lead.

As Elias Godoy sat in the sin bin for Texas, the Brahmas PK unit went to work and at the 19:00 marker, Jordan Cameron split the Bucks defense and scored on the backhand to put the purple and black within one. The shortie is Texas' league leading 12th of the season. Celebrations were cut short when Griffith haunted Palmer once again in the first when he recorded his second of the night :22 seconds later.

In order to get back in the game the Brahmas needed offense, but it was difficult to come by with bodies in the penalty box as they were called for four penalties in the second and three in the third and were unable to convert on the powerplay, going 0-for-11 for the night.

The Brahmas will look to end their road woes tomorrow night when they visit the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees for a 7:35 PM start. Texas will return home Sunday afternoon for a 4:05 PM faceoff against the Tulsa Oilers at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
