Hanson Activated, Bartolone Placed On 14-Day I.R.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro announced today the team has activated defenseman Matt Hanson and has placed player/assistant coach and team captain Chris Bartolone on 14-day I.R.

Placed on injured reserve retroactive to January 23, Bartolone's consecutive regular season games played streak comes to an end at 232 contests.

The 19-year-pro had failed to miss a regular season game with Arizona since joining the team prior to its inaugural season in 2006-07. His only other stint on I.R. came in the second round of the 2007 CHL Playoffs after breaking his hand in a contest against the New Mexico Scorpions.

Bartolone has appeared in 40 games with the Sundogs this season, recording seven goals, a team-high 25 assists, 24 PIM and a plus-2 rating. He ranks third in the CHL among defensemen in scoring with 32 points and leads his team with 19 power-play points.

The Clinton Township, Michigan, native recently played in his 1,000th pro game on December 13, a 4-2 win over the Tulsa Oilers at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Bartolone entered the 2009-10 season with 977 career games under his belt totaling 254 goals and 523 assists.

He has appeared in a franchise-best 260 games recording 56 goals, a club-record 182 assists also ranks first all-time in points (238).

The 40-year-old veteran recorded the first goal in team history on October 20, 2006 in a 6-3 win over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.

Hanson, 27, has appeared in 31 games with Arizona this season, tallying three goals, three assists and 44 penalty minutes (PIM) prior to being placed on 14-day I.R. on January 2.
