
Bruins make goaltending change

The Providence Bruins announced today that they have signed goaltender Cody Rudkowsky to a professional tryout contract, and released goaltender Andrew Allen from his tryout agreement. Rudkowsky, 26, had been playing in the ECHL with the Reading Royals. Allen will return to his ECHL team, the Trenton Titans.
Rudkowsky, a 6'1", 215-pound native of Willingdon, Alberta, is playing in his sixth professional season. He played three seasons of junior hockey with the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) from 1996-99, being named the Canadian Hockey League's Goaltender of the Year in 1998-99. Rudkowsky signed as a free agent with the St. Louis Blues on March 25, 1999, and played 85 games with their AHL affiliate, the Worcester IceCats, from 1999-2004. His record over that span was 29-30-14, with a 2.89 GAA and .904 save percentage. He has also played one NHL game, with St. Louis, getting a win in relief during the 2002-03 season.
Rudkowsky played 46 games last season with Reading, posting a 24-18-4 record with a 2.38 GAA and .926 save percentage. He led the Royals to the National Conference Finals, finishing fourth among playoff goaltenders with a 2.02 GAA in 14 games. He finished second among ECHL playoff goaltenders in games played (14), minutes played (833), wins (8) and saves (413), while ranking fifth with a .937 save percentage.
Rudkowsky arrives in Providence ranking third this season in the ECHL with a 1.29 GAA and fourth with a .949 save percentage. He was 4-4-0 in eight games.
The Bruins return to action on Friday, December 3 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Manchester Monarchs The game will be the second of six to be televised live on COX Sports Television. Corey Masse (play by play) and Boston Bruins legend and Hockey Hall of Fame member Gerry Cheevers will call the action. The Bruins also host the Hershey Bears on Sunday, December 5 at 4:05 p.m.
