Hershey Bears News Release

The BEARS begin a five-game road trip in fine fashion with a 3-0 win at Pepsi Arena Wednesday night.

The BEARS and Rats battled back and forth through the first period before Eric Perrin scored with just 1.4 seconds left before first intermission.

Perrin was able to wrap the puck around from behind the net after a Brett Clark shot rebounded off of Albany goaltender Scott Clemmensen. Clark earned his 15th assist of the season on the goal, while Jeff Finger earned just his second point of the season on the goal.

The Rats outshot HERSHEY 13-11 in the first but still trailed 1-0 heading to the dressing room for first intermission. It was much of the same in the second period for the BEARS, who scored the only goal of the middle stanza and outshot Albany 17-8.

David Masse scored an unassisted short-handed goal at 13:17 after serving a two-minute minor for hooking. Masse's goal was his fourth in seven games, and it was also the second short-handed goal of the season for HERSHEY.

The third period was scoreless until Jeff Ulmer notched an empty-net goal at the 19:59 mark to round out the scoring. Tom Lawson earns his first shutout of the season, making 28 saves.

The BEARS will travel Thursday and will play game two of the current five-game road trip Friday night at Worcester against the IceCats. Airtime Friday night is at 6:45 p.m. on the BEARS radio network.
