Bears and Rats tangle in Albany tonight

December 1, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release

The BEARS begin a five-game road trip tonight in the Capital District of New York State as the Albany River Rats play host at 7:00 p.m. The game comes on the heels of four separate roster moves for HERSHEY on Monday. Defenseman Mikko Viitanen and forward Frantisek Skladany were assigned to the UHL's Quad City Mallards while defenseman Trevor Johnson was recalled from the ECHL's Peoria Rivermen. Forward Graig Mischler was also recalled Monday from the Reading Royals.

HERSHEY is 2-0-0-0 against the River Rats in 2004-05. The BEARS won 4-2 at Pepsi Arena back on November 19 with goals from Jeff Ulmer, Carl Corazzini, Mathieu Darche and Dean Arsene. HERSHEY also outshot Albany 42-24 in a 4-3 overtime victory at GIANT Center on November 21.

Martin Hlinka will be out of the lineup for three to four weeks with a fractured ankle he suffered in Saturday's game against Philadelphia. Cody McCormick continues to be sidelined as well with a fractured wrist.

The BEARS begin play tonight just three points behind Albany for sixth place in the East Division standings. Tonight's game can be heard on the BEARS Radio network beginning at 6:40 p.m. John Walton has the call of the game from New York's Capital District. HERSHEY will play at Worcester, Portland, Providence and Philadelphia before returning to play at GIANT Center on Saturday, December 11 against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
