SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League has named the Philadelphia Phantoms' history-making winning streak the CCM AHL Milestone of the Month for November.
The Phantoms reeled off 17 consecutive victories, the longest such streak in the 69-year history of the American Hockey League. The record-setting victory came on Nov. 27, a 3-1 decision at the Giant Center in Hershey.
During the streak, Philadelphia defeated Hershey four times, Bridgeport twice, Hamilton twice, Cincinnati twice, Binghamton twice, Providence twice, and Wilkes-Barre, Norfolk and Albany once each. The Phantoms recorded seven one-goal wins, including six via overtime or shootout.
Under fifth-year head coach John Stevens, Philadelphia is the defending East Division champion. The Phantoms are currently second in the overall AHL standings with a record of 17-3-0-0, and a perfect 11-0-0-0 at home this season.
In recognition of the honor, the Phantoms organization will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming home game.
