Swift Current Broncos News Release

Swift Current, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos announced today they have signed 2006-born forward Maddix McCagherty to a Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreement. He was drafted 25th overall in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.

McCagherty, from Kelowna, B.C., was drafted out of the Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna U18 program in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League and has seven goals and 13 assists in 16 games this season.

"Maddix is a player that can play up and down the lineup very effectively," said Broncos interim general manager Chad Leslie. "His individual skill paired with his skating and hockey sense makes him someone we anticipate producing consistently in our lineup. We are very excited to welcome the McCagherty's to the Bronco family."

The 5'11, 160-pound McCagherty is the third member of the Broncos 2021 draft class to sign with the organization, joining first-round picks Clarke Caswell and Josh Fluker. McCagherty and Caswell were teammates with the Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna U15 program during the shortened 2020-21 season.
