Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats (13-16-0) host the first-place Winnipeg ICE (25-5-2) this evening at 7 p.m. at the Brandt Centre.
This is the first head-to-head meeting between the two clubs since October 16, when the Pats fell 6-3 on the road.
The Pats are coming off a wild 6-5 victory on Monday over the Edmonton Oil Kings in their first game following the brief holiday break.
Six different Pats found the back of the net in the victory, including three defencemen: Tom Cadieux, Ryker Evans and Layton Feist, plus forwards Drew Englot, Braxton Whitehead and rookie Braydon Barnett, who scored his first career WHL in just his second game. Feist recorded a four-point night, with all four coming in the opening period, and was named the game's first star.
The Pats are 4-2 in their last six, but lost four in a row prior to that.
It's been a heck of a season for Winnipeg meanwhile, who are the no. 1 ranked team in the CHL and started the season with 11 straight wins. They are slowly coming back down to earth, however. After going 22-1-1 in their first 24 games, they are now 3-4-1 in their last eight. The ICE are coming off a 5-4 overtime defeat on Monday to the Brandon Wheat Kings.
