The Suns broke through first with an RBI single off the bat of Alex Burg to grab an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third and scored an additional run in the fourth to take a 2-0 advantage which evaporated quickly.

David Rohm ripped a two-run double to tie the ballgame at 2-2 in the fourth inning.

Jacksonville re-took the lead in the sixth inning thanks to a J.T. Realmuto RBI double to make it a 3-2 Suns lead, and added a run of insurance when Realmuto scored on a wild pitch to push the lead to 4-2.

But the Braves had the last laugh, scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Elmer Reyes had an RBI single to cut the deficit to 4-3 and then the Braves took the lead for good when Seth Loman hit a two-run double to give Mississippi a 5-4 edge.

Andrew Heaney left in line for the victory but instead took a no decision after allowing two runs (both earned) on four hits in five innings of work, while striking out five batters and issuing two walks.

Edgar Olmos (H, 3) allowed two runs (both earned) in his two innings of relief, before Nick Wittgren (BS, 2; L, 1-2) took the loss after allowing one run on two hits in the eighth inning.

John Cornely (W, 3-0) earned the win for the Braves after throwing two perfect innings of relief, with Shae Simmons (SV, 6) garnering his sixth save of the 2014 season with a scoreless ninth.

J.T. Realmuto was the only Sun with a multi-hit game, finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, two runs scored and 1 RBI.

The Suns and Braves will be back at it on Friday for game three of this five-game series at Trustmark Park. Jacksonville sends out the right-hander Angel Sanchez (0-4, 4.74) while Mississippi counters with a righty of their own in Jason Hursh (1-2, 2.70).

Suns fans can listen to Friday's game on the Suns Baseball Network, 94.1 WSOS-FM or throughwww.jaxsuns.com, MiLB.com or the Suns iPhone or Android app, beginning at 7:45 p.m. ET with the Memorial Hospital Suns Pregame Show.
