May 2, 2014 - Southern League (SL1)
Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
Three to Watch on the Chattanooga Lookouts (Los Angeles Dodgers):
#29 Chris Reed, LHP:
Chris Reed is a former 2011 First Round Draft Pick and the eighth best prospect in the Dodgers system. In 2013, Reed was one of the most prolific groundball pitchers in the minors. He ranked 12th among ERA qualifiers with a 2.2 groundout/airout ratio. The left-hander works with a sinking two-seam fastball that tops out at 95 mph.
#43 Pedro Baez, RHP:
Pedro Baez is a former third baseman that never put it all together as a position player but always had a strong arm. The Dodgers converted him to a relief pitcher and he quickly made an impact. In his first season as a pitcher in 2013, he had a combined 3.88 ERA in 48 appearances between High-A and Double-A. Baez has a power arm and throws 91-96 mph with good sink.
#9 Darnell Sweeney, SS/2B:
Darnell Sweeney is a great athlete whose best attribute is his speed. Last season he led the High-A California League in triples (16) and ranked third in stolen bases (48). Sweeney has good power for a middle-infielder; last season he hit 11 HR and 77 RBI.
