Jackson Generals News Release

JACKSON, TENN. - The Jackson Generals (14-14) snapped their four-game winning streak and lose their first against the Blue Wahoos (11-17) 4-1 after an impressive start by Pensacola's John Moscot at the Ballpark in Jackson tonight.

Pensacola got on the scoreboard first on Friday night and led 1-0. Beau Amaral led off the game with a walk, then stole second and scored on Donald Lutz's base hit through the right side.

The Generals tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first. Ketel Marte (2-4, 1 R) singled and stole second base. He then scored when Dan Paolini (0-2, 1 RBI) grounded into a fielder's choice to third base.

Ray Chang reached on an error to lead off the third for the Blue Wahoos. He was then called out at second base on the transfer rule as Jackson tried to turn a double play on Devin Lohman's grounder to third. Lohman scored on Rey Navarro's double and Pensacola extended their lead to 2-1.

Bryan Anderson walked to start the fourth for Pensacola and later scored on Chang's groundout. At that point, the Blue Wahoos led 3-1, and that's all the support Moscot needed.

The starter went an impressive seven innings giving up just one run on two hits and struck out five. Moscot also loaded the bases in the third inning, but got Jack Marder (0-3) to pop out to second base to end the inning with no further damage. Pensacola's pitcher then found his groove. He retired the final 13 Generals' batters he faced, giving the ball to the bullpen in the eighth inning.

The Blue Wahoos scored another insurance run in the fifth when Rey Navarro trotted home after a single by Donald Lutz. Elvin Ramirez pitched a scoreless eighth for Pensacola in his first appearance this season for the club. Then James Walczak came in and picked up his second save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth.

The two teams will play the fourth game of the series Saturday at 6:05pm. LHP Cam Hobson (3-1, 3.14) starts for the Generals and RHP Michael Lorenzeon (2-1, 1.88) goes for the Wahoos. It's Star Wars Night on Saturday with a Postgame High Tech Special Effects Fireworks Extravaganza.
