Gwinnett Stripers News Release
Richmond, VA - The Richmond Braves expect to welcome their 10 millionth fan to The Diamond during their upcoming homestand starting Friday. The Braves need 13,889 more fans to reach 10 million at The Diamond since the park opened in 1985.
The 10 millionth fan will receive two vouchers from Delta Airlines for a round trip anywhere in the U.S., two season tickets for 2008, a $100 voucher for the Braves souvenir shop, a Braves jersey, a tailgate party courtesy of Outback for 20 people, an IceTek watch courtesy of IceTek Watch Company and Diamond Concepts, and a visit from the Braves grounds crew to aerate and seed the 10 millionth fan's yard.
There are seven minor league parks now in use that have hosted 10 million fans. Of those only Dunn Tire Park in Buffalo (opened in 1988) is newer than The Diamond. All of the current parks to hit 10 million fans are in Triple-A. Also this season the Double-A Reading Phillies will reach 10 million fans. Their park opened in 1952. McCoy Stadium, Pawtucket Red Sox (1946)
PGE Park, Portland Beavers (1956)
Cheney Stadium, Tacoma Rainiers (1960)
Rosenblatt Stadium, Omaha Royals (1969)
Herschel Greer Stadium, Nashville Sounds (1978)
