Brampton Comeback Defeats Royals

Brampton, ON - The Reading Royals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, allowed three goals in the third period and lost, 5-4, Sunday at the Powerade Center. Reading's Alex Krushelnyski scored twice and Michael Huntebrinker potted his second goal of the season.

Reading entered the third ahead, 4-2, but the Beast scored three straight goals. Alex Foster, Reggie Traccitto and Jordan Henry scored. Henry's game-winner came with 6:55 left.

The Royals held a pair of multi-goal edges. The Royals scored consecutive goals in the second to break a 2-2 tie. Steven Swavely (3g, 3a in last 4 games) broke the tie at :26 of the second and Huntebrinker smacked a breakaway in from the left post later in the period. Krushelnyski scored the first two goals and opened the scoring on Reading's first shot at 1:09 of the first. Brampton tied the game with a pair of first-period goals in less than a minute. Krushelnyski leads the team with seven goals and 14 points this season.

Mark Dekanich (lost, 4-3-0-0) fended off 30 shots. Marcus Hogberg is 2-3-0-0 and won with 23 saves.

The next Royals game is at home on Tues., Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. against Adirondack and features a postgame autograph session.

Box Score

Krushelnyski used strong awareness to pot the first goal. Loic Leduc shot it from neutral ice off of Hogberg's pads, and Krushelnyski dashed and roofed it on the backhand from the right post. He lit the lamp on a similar move 6:21 later. This time, he handled the puck underneath the scoreboard, applied the jets, muscled by Cody Donaghey and backhanded it in from the right post. Mark Naclerio and Nick Luukko took the assists.

Stefan Fournier and Brandon Marino scored 56 seconds apart to tie the game at two with 3:29 to go in the first. Each team had ten shots in the first.

Swavely backhanded it in from the left slot less than a minute into the second, assisted by Scott Tanski, to give the Royals a 3-2 lead. Tanski earned his first point since the 2017 Kelly Cup Final with the South Carolina Stingrays.

Huntebrinker capitalized on a turnover with 2:26 to go in the second to double the lead, 4-2. Brampton's Reggie Traccitto knocked the puck to Huntebrinker at the slot and the rookie walked in on a breakaway. He faked the backhand and shot it in at the left post for his second goal of the season. He scored his first professional goal on Nov. 15 vs. Manchester.

The Royals power play was 0-for-5 and killed off four Brampton chances (4-for-5).
