Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. - Forward Tyler Wong has been recalled from the Quad City Mallards by American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves, the Mallards announced today.
Wong, a 21-year old rookie, scored once and picked up one assist in six games after being loaned to the Mallards by the Wolves November 9. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound Airdrie, Alberta, native has scored one goal in nine games with Chicago this season.
Wong last year finished tied for first in the Western Hockey League in goals (51) and was named to the WHL (East) First All-Star Team while playing for the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Wong also finished third in the league in points by producing 109 in 69 games.
Wong spent five full seasons and part of a sixth in Lethbridge. He served as the Hurricanes' captain for each of his final two junior campaigns. Wong was also awarded the Doug Wickenheiser Trophy as WHL Humanitarian of the Year each of the last two seasons. He finished his Western League career having totaled 143 goals, 155 assists and 298 points in 317 games.
Wong got his first taste of pro hockey when he played three games- and picked up one assist- for the AHL's Toronto Marlies late in the 2015-16 season.
The Mallards return to action on home ice Friday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Wichita Thunder. The Mallards have teamed with R.I.A. Federal Credit Union for their annual Teddy Bear Toss Friday night. Fans who bring stuffed animals to that game can toss them on the ice after the Mallards' first goal. Teddy bears will then been collected and donated to children need in the Quad Cities area just in time for the holidays. F riday's game also brings the return of $2 Dog/$2 Beer Night presented by 97X. Fans can enjoy $2 hot dogs and beers from TaxSlayer Center concession stands during every Friday Mallards home game. In addition, the Mallards have once again this season partnered with Metro to provide transit service between Augustana College and downtown Moline during all Friday home games. As part of Metro's unlimited ride program, Augustana riders can use their Augustana ID as their fare.
Tickets for Friday's contest and all Mallards regular season home games are now on sale at the TaxSlayer Center box office, Ticketmaster toll free charge-by-phone (1-800-745-3000) and ticketmaster.com.
