Brahmas Win Fourth Straight
February 12, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (February 12)- Make it four wins in a row for the Texas Brahmas as they defeated the Tulsa Oilers on the road Tuesday evening 4-2.
After a lackluster first period, the Brahmas offense was on fire putting up four unanswered goals on Tulsa goaltender Jeff Van Nynatten.
Tyler Skworchinski started the scoring for Texas, tying the game 1-1 in the second with his second shorthanded goal of the season. Brahmas netminder Brett Jaeger faced 24 shots before heading into the final period.
The Brahmas scoring exploded in the third with an unassisted goal from their leading goal scorer Anders Strome registering his 25th goal of the season. Three minutes later, Tulsa's defense was unable to keep the Brahmas hot powerplay off the scoreboard as forward Scott Sheppard scored a goal at the 7:18 mark. Craig Minard and Grant Jacobsen were credited with the assist.
A third Texas line centered by Mark Carragher jumped in on the action when Brent MacSween and Jacobsen fed Carragher a pass at the 12:31 mark in the third. That put the Brahmas up 4-1.
The Oilers led by Kai Magnussen were able to slip one more goal past the CHL's Goaltender of the Week, Jaeger with only :27 seconds remaining in the game, but it wasn't enough to cool off Texas' winning streak.
Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong was pleased with his team's hard work in the game.
"The guys played an unbelievable game in the second and third. They've really seemed to mesh and come together the past few weeks," said Wildfong.
The Brahmas are now 25-18-1 and Jaeger is riding a five game winning streak. In the past 14 games, Texas has won 11 games, including four key division contests.
This Friday Texas will return home to the NYTEX Sports Centre for a match-up against the New Mexico Scorpions for a 7:05 PM. Saturday, February 16 the Brahmas will host Northeast rival Mississippi RiverKings for a 7:05 PM start. The night will be a special promotional evening sponsored by Ashley Furniture and HomeStore, Youth Jersey Night, where the first 1000 kids age 12 and under will receive a free Brahmas youth jersey.
