Brahmas Four Game Win Streak Snapped in Shoot Out

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - With the top two teams leading the CHL in current win streaks, each club had something to prove on the ice as they faced each other tonight. Unfortunately the Brahmas hot streak came to an end when they lost in a shoot out to the Tulsa Oilers for a final score of 2-1.

The first period for both teams was tight with the Brahmas leading in shots on goal 9-4 as both teams closed the first twenty minutes of play scoreless.

The Brahmas took advantage of a power play early in the second period as Chris Moran was able to score against Oiler goaltender Ian Keserich 2:15 into the period and give the Brahmas a 1-0 lead. The Oilers posted a goal of their own when Mike Wiril beat Wayne Savage at the net to even the game at the 16:11 mark.

In the third period, the Brahmas continued to attack offensively and lead in shots on goal, but were unable to find the net by the end of regulation play saw a tied game for the third time in as many games. With no goals scored in overtime the game went into a shoot out.

The shoot out came down to the last shot of the game when Marty Standish whipped one past Savage to give the Oilers the win as the lone goal scorer in the shoot out.

The Brahmas point gave them a 4-0-1 record in the past five contests.

The Brahmas head to Rio Grande Valley for a two game series versus the Killer Bees and will head home for a Sunday, 4:00 PM game on January 30 against the Fort Wayne Komets at the NYTEX Sports Centre. The game will be Faith and Family Day featuring MLB All Star Vernon Wells as the postgame speaker.
