NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Texas Brahmas powerplay dazzled Saturday night in front of a sell-out crowd at the NYTEX Sports Centre as they defeated Northeast rivals Mississippi RiverKings, putting them only one point back from a playoff position.

Anders Strome started the scoring brigade early in the first from defenseman Kevin McLeod and Mike Vellinga on the powerplay. As both teams continued to skate strong until Mississippi was able to answer back with a powerplay goal of their own from center Ryan Held with just two minutes remaining in the opening period.

The second opened with a daunting goal on Texas' goaltender Brett Jaeger from former Brahma Chad Woollard. This was the only lead the RiverKings would have for the evening as Jaeger went on to stop 46-48 for his sixth straight victory.

The magical line of Cameron, Strome and Skworchinski shined for the Brahmas second goal to even the game. It was Jordan Cameron's 24th goal of the season.

The star of the game was the Brahmas' powerplay in the third when Texas took advantage of three Mississippi penalties. Defenseman Justin Kinnunen scored on 'Kings netminder Ian Keserich :25 seconds into the third from Brahmas captain Blair Manning. Two minutes later Strome earned his second of the night and his team leading 28th goal.

Brahmas' feisty forward Mark Carragher put the game away when he took a feed from Brent MacSween and Craig Minard past Keserich with only :17 seconds remaining in the game.

The Brahmas will take their six game winning streak to Amarillo tomorrow evening as they face the Gorillas for a 6:05 PM start. Texas' next home game is Friday, February 22 against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at 7:05 PM.
