Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - Giveaways, flying chainsaws and fireworks are just a few of the exciting things on tap as the boys of summer, the Altoona Curve, will return home on Friday, June 3, for six games in seven days at Blair County Ballpark. The Curve will open the homestand by welcoming in the Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, for three games, followed by three games with the Erie SeaWolves, Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The homestand will run through Thursday, June 9.

A Freebie Friday will start the homestand off as the Curve will be giving away Drawstring Bags to the first 1,000 fans into the ballpark courtesy of Lakemont Park. Since it's also the first Friday of the month, it will be the second FRITOS Family Friday of the season where a few lucky fans will be selected to take part in special ballpark experiences throughout the game. The gates will open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. game.

On Saturday in Curve, Pa. at 7 p.m., chainsaws will be flying through the air as the crazy and amazing chainsaw juggler Mad Chad makes his return to Blair County Ballpark for a performance you will not want to miss. Members of the free Galliker's Kids' Club will get into the game for free because Saturday is the third Kids' Club Night of the year. Kids 12 and under can still be signed up for the Galliker's Kids Club at the ballpark, online at AltoonaCurve.com, or by calling 877-99-CURVE. Since it's the first Saturday of the month, it's a Community Collection Day as fans are encouraged to bring in their old, unwanted computer parts, office equipment - working or not - to donate to Skills of Central PA, Inc.

Sunday marks the return of Sunday Night Fireworks as the Curve will have postgame fireworks after each Sunday home game for the remainder of the season. The fireworks show, presented by Ramada Altoona, will occur after the game which has a start time of 6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring their gloves to the park as well as the On-Field Catch returns. Fans will be allowed on the outfield grass from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., this and every Sunday for the remainder of the season, to have a catch.

Kids will also run the bases after each of the first three games of the homestand, Friday through Sunday.

After a weekend full of great promotions, the Curve will welcome Erie to BCB on Tuesday to continue the homestand.

Tuesday's 7 p.m. game will feature special discounts for Curve fans as it's a Two-for-Tuesday presented by Atlantic Broadband and KRAFT Singles. Fans can receive two-for-one offers on tickets, hot dogs and small popcorns for Tuesday evening's contest with the SeaWolves. Be sure to take advantage of what is the best value in minor league baseball.

The homestand continues on Wednesday with a People's Natural Gas Customer Appreciation Night as select regional customers of Peoples will be able to use a postcard that was mailed to them for two complimentary tickets to the game. It's also a Ponderosa Four-Pack Wednesday where fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four regular sodas all for $30 thanks to Ponderosa Steakhouses for the 7 p.m. game. Wednesday's contest will also feature the second What We're Watching Wednesday as the Curve will parody the alphabet soup of crime dramas with the appropriately titled: "NCIS/CSI: Curve, PA - Law & Order SVU". The first lampooning of a popular TV show entitled "LOST: Locke & Locke" received national recognition as a Top 10 Weekly promotion on MiLB.com in May.

The homestand concludes on Thursday, June 9th with a bang as this Thirsty Thursday will include a postgame Fireworks show. The game begins at 7 p.m., and when gates open an hour earlier, fans will be able to enjoy 16 oz. Yuengling drafts for $2.00 and regular sodas for $1.50 thanks to Rocky 104.9. After the game, the Curve will have their second spectacular fireworks display of the homestand to cap off another great week of Curve baseball.
