New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Harrisburg, PA)-Mike McDade delivered a bases-loaded two RBI single in the top of the seventh inning to break a 4-4 tie, and the Fisher Cats went on to a 10-5 win in Harrisburg on Thursday night.
In the decisive seventh inning, Ricardo Nanita singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. Mark Sobolewski drew a walk. JohnTolisano (2-for-4, 2 RBI) singled home Nanita to tie the game at 4-4. After Darin Mastroianni bunted the runners up, Harrisburg intentionally walked Adeiny Hechavarria. Reliever Cory VanAllen struck out Anthony Gose but McDade drilled a two-run single.
New Hampshire (35-18) tacked on four more runs in the top of the eighth inning on a two-run single by Mastroianni, a bases-loaded walk to Gose and a McDade sacrifice fly. The Fisher Cats salvaged the final game of the series snapping a ten-game win streak for Harrisburg, the leaders in the Western division.
Yohan Pino (1-3) earned the win, working 1.1 scoreless innings in relief of starter Joel Carreno.
Carreno worked the first five innings, allowing six hits and four runs. He walked two and struck out nine Senators. In all, Carreno, Pino, Mike Hinckley, Ron Uviedo and Bobby Korecky combined for 14 strikeouts, a season-high for the Fisher Cats staff.
The Fisher Cats opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Mastroianni blooped a double down the right field line, moved to second on a groundout by Hechavarria and scored on a fielders choice by Anthony Gose as Harrisburg failed in an attempt to tag Mastroianni trying to score from third.
Harrisburg (30-21) tied the game in the fourth as Bill Rhinehart reached on a strikeout/wild pitch. He moved to third on a single by Archie Gilbert and scored the tying run on a double steal, which included Rhinehart's steal of home.
New Hampshire moved back in front in the top of the fifth inning. Mark Sobolewski walked and scored on a double by John Tolisano to make it 2-1.
The Senators batted around, scoring three times in the bottom of the fifth. Alex Valdez walked and Steve Lombardozzi beat out a bunt single. Josh Johnson singled home Valdez to tie the game at 2-2. Chris Rahl grounded out as Lombardozzi scored to make it 3-2 and Tyler Moore singled home Johnson for a 4-2 lead.
The Fisher Cats cut the lead to one in the top of the sixth inning. Anthony Gose walked and stole second. He moved to third on a Mike McDade fly out and scored on a ground out by Moises Sierra to make it 4-3.
Harrisburg threatened in the last of the eighth inning. Alex Valdez tripled and scored on a single by Lombardozzi to make it 10-5. After Johnson and Rahl followed with singles to load the bases, Uviedo struck out Moore and got Rhinehart to fly out to end the threat.
The Fisher Cats continue the roadtrip on Friday night in Trenton. RHP Zach Stewart (3-3, 4.45) starts for New Hampshire against Thunder LHP Shaeffer Hall (4-3, 3.30). Game time is 7:05pm and radio coverage on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Dick Lutsk begins at 6:45pm.
