New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH - Eric Thames drove in Darin Mastroianni with a single in the top of the sixth inning and Shawn Bowman followed with a two-run homer to put the Fisher Cats in front, but Harrisburg rallied for a 4-3 win over New Hampshire in the opener of a three-game series Tuesday night.

Harrisburg (34-37) opened the scoring against New Hampshire starter Kyle Drabek with two runs in the bottom of the second inning on four hits. Chris Marrero (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) singled, Tim Pahuta singled and Jhonatan Solano singled scoring Marrero to make it 1-0. Brad Coon followed with a double into the right field corner, scoring Pahuta from second for a 2-0 lead.

The Fisher Cats (42-29) took the 3-2 in the lead in the top of the sixth inning. Mastroianni singled and was picked off, but Marrero's throw from first went into the outfield for an error. Thames drove in Mastroianni with a single before Bowman's home run. Bowman, who's double in the second inning extended his hit streak to 11 games, moved into a tie with Thames for the team lead with 12 homers.

Harrisburg came right back in the bottom of the sixth inning. Marvin Lowrance (3-for-4, R) doubled and Marrero homered off losing pitcher Kyle Drabek for a 4-3 lead that would prove insurmountable.

Drabek (7-7) worked seven innings, allowing seven hits and four earned runs. He walked one and struck out five. Drabek leads the Eastern League in innings pitched (91.0) and is second in strikeouts with 72, but failed to win for the fourth consecutive start in June. Danny Farquhar worked a scoreless eighth inning in relief for New Hampshire.

Harrisburg starter Aaron Thompson (3-9) worked 6.1 innings, allowing seven hits and three runs (all unearned). He did not issue a walk and struck out three to earn the win. Rafael Martin got out of a bases loaded jam for Harrisburg in the top of the seventh, getting Manny Mayorson to ground into a fielders choice after David Cooper and Jonathan Jaspe had singled and Mastroianni walked.

Zech Zinicola set down the Fisher Cats in order in the ninth for his seventh save.

New Hampshire continues the three-game series against the Harrisburg Senators at Metro Bank Park on Wednesday afternoon at 12:00pm. Right-hander Ronald Uviedo (1-2, 3.62) will get the start for the Fisher Cats against Senators left-hander Ross Detwiler (0-0, 1.17). Fisher Cats Pre-Game begins at 11:45am on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman.

The Fisher Cats open a three-game series against the Reading Phillies at Merchantsauto.com Stadium on Monday, June 28, with a 7:05pm game. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Fisher Cats Mini-Bat, courtesy of Akzo Nobel/ICI Paints, and fans will play USA Subs Baseball Bingo.
