ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves look to snap a season-long six-game home winning streak as they take on the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) at Jerry Uht Park. The two clubs will begin tonight's action by completing a suspended game from May 27. The game will begin in the top of the fourth inning with Shawn Roof at the plate (Erie will be the visiting team in the first game). Following the conclusion of the suspended game, the two clubs will then play the regularly schedule game (7 innings)...The 'Wolves have won four of their last six games but remain in last place in the Western Division. The Howlers are only 5.5 games behind second place Bowie. The 'Wolves have struggled against the Thunder this season, dropping eight of the first 10 games. Erie took two of three from Trenton April 30-May 2 at "The Uht". Erie went winless at Trenton's Waterfront Park...Righty Brooks Brown will take the mound for the SeaWolves in the completion of the suspended game. Brown was the starter when the game was suspended in Trenton. He is the current EL Pitcher of the Week following a complete game performance against Portland in his his last start. Brown has allowed just three earned runs over his last 16.0 innings pitched...Righty Thad Weber takes the mound for Erie in tonight's second game. Weber hurled seven shutout innings in his last start at Portland and has not allowed an earned run in his last 15.0 innings pitched. Weber is 2-1 with a 1.23 ERA in June.
TODAY'S NOTABLES -
- Trenton has won the season series taking eight of the first 10 games against Erie. The SeaWolves and Thunder meet 14 times in 2010." Defensively, the 'Wolves have committed 75 errors on the season which is the second-most in the EL. Sunday was Erie's first game since June 5 without committing at least one error." The SeaWolves are sixth in the league with a 4.07 team ERA. Trenton is fourth with a 3.57 team ERA." The SeaWolves are 11th in the league with a .241 team batting average. Trenton is fourth with a .265 team average." Erie has connected on 75 home runs which leads the league. Erie hit eight home runs in the weekend series at New Hampshire and the club has belted 12 home runs over the last five games." The SeaWolves are third in the EL with 65 stolen bases. Trenton is second with 68." The 'Wolves are 12-18 at home. - Andy Dirks leads all league outfielders with 14 assists." Erie is 5-12 in June. - The SeaWolves have struggled against the Eastern Division. The 'Wolves are 8-21 against opponents from the East." Erie has dropped six consecutive home games.
