Harrisburg Senators News Release

Chris Marrero hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Harrisburg Senators the lead, and the Sens went on to edge the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4-3 on Tuesday night at Metro Bank Park.

The Sens (34-37) held the advantage for most of the game, but the Fisher Cats (42-29) did take a brief lead in the top of the sixth, when Shawn Bowman drove a two-run home run over the right-field fence to put the visitors in front, 3-2. Eric Thames had driven in the first New Hampshire run of the game, with a single that scored Darin Mastroianni, earlier in the inning.

Marrero's home run was his tenth of the season, and drove in Marvin Lowrance, who had doubled to lead off the inning. It also gave the Senators the lead again, a lead they first took in the bottom of the second inning. Their first lead came on an RBI single from Jhonatan Solano, which drove in Marrero. That was followed up by an RBI double by Brad Coon, which brought home Tim Pahuta, and made it 2-0 through two.

Aaron Thompson (3-9) earned the win for the Senators, and pitched very well. He did not give up an earned run through six and a third innings of work, and did not walk a batter. Kyle Drabek (7-7) took the loss for the Fisher Cats, allowing four runs in seven innings. Zech Zinicola pitched a perfect ninth, and picked up his seventh save.

Game two of the three-game series between the two teams is Wednesday afternoon, as Metro Bank Park sees its first 12:00 PM start this season. Left-hander Ross Detwiler (0-0, 1.17) will make his third start for the Senators, against RHP Ronald Uviedo (1-2, 3.62) of New Hampshire. Radio coverage on 1460 AM The Ticket, and online on www.senatorsbaseball.com, begins at 11:45 AM.
