Thunder Lose in Resumption, Get Past Erie in Second Game

Erie, PA - After dropping the resumption game to Erie 8-2, the Thunder were able to buckle down and get past the SeaWolves in the regularly scheduled game by a score of 8-3 on Tuesday night from Jerry Uht Park. The Thunder now stand at 42-27 on the season.

Trenton had no answer in the resumption game against the ‘Wolves, as Erie tagged LHP Wilkin de la Rosa (2-3) for eight runs on 11 hits, including five base hits in a row to lead off the sixth inning against the left-hander. The two runs scored by the Thunder in the resumption game came on two solo home runs. Austin Romine belted out his fifth homer of the year in the sixth inning off RHP Brooks Brown (5-4). Jose Gil did the same in the ninth inning, his third of the season.

In the regularly scheduled game, the Thunder cruised to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning off RHP Thad Weber (4-8). Daniel Brewer led off the game with a single, and after Brandon Laird walked with two outs, Matt Cusick hit a three run homer to right field to give Trenton an early lead.

The Thunder picked up three more runs in the third inning, including a two-run double from Laird, scoring Austin Krum and Romine. Cusick followed with a double of his own to drive in Laird and make it a 6-0 Thunder lead after three innings.

RHP Lance Pendleton (6-3) pitched six innings, allowing three runs, which all came in the fifth inning for Erie, on four hits and struck out six to pick up his third consecutive win.

Wilkins Arias pitched a scoreless seventh inning to end the game, and secure the win for the Thunder. It was his seventh consecutive scoreless outing.

Trenton and Erie continue their series on Wednesday at Jerry Uht Park starting at 7:05 PM. RHP DJ Mitchell (5-3, 4.41) will start for the Thunder, while Erie counters with LHP Ramon Garcia (0-4, 5.02).
