Last Game: On Thursday, the Hot Rods snapped a three-game losing streak and a 19-inning scoreless skid with a 6-0 victory against the Lansing Lugnuts in game one of their four-game series at Cooley Law School Stadium.

NEWS AND NOTES

Vs. Lugnuts: This is the second series between the Hot Rods and the Lugnuts this season. Last week, the Hot Rods took 2 of 3 from the Lugnuts at Bowling Green Ballpark. Bowling Green won the first game of the series and then, after a rainout, the two teams split a doubleheader with Lansing winning game one (3-0) and Bowling Green winning game two (5-3). The two teams play a total of 18 times this year.

Scoring Streak: Against Lansing, the Hot Rods pitching staff has held the Lugnuts to four or fewer runs in 20 straight games dating back to the 2016 season.

Suspended Game: On Wednesday, the series finale between the Hot Rods and the Lake County Captains was suspended with two outs in the fifth inning as rain dumped on Classic Park. When the game stopped, the Hot Rods lead 2-0 and Bowling Green SP JD Busfield had retired 12 straight batters to begin his outing. Play will resume at that point of the game on Sunday, June 11 at Classic Park.

Shutouts: In the first 13 games of the season. the Hot Rods have had dominant performances by their pitching staff and have had dominant pitching performances against them. Five of their games have featured shutouts, two of them by the Hot Rods pitching staff. Those happened on April 13 against Fort Wayne and April 20 against Lansing, while the BG offense was blanked in two straight games against Lake County on April 17 and 18 and against Lansing on April 12.

Roster Moves: On Sunday, RHP Roel Ramirez was promoted to High-A Port Charlotte while the Hot Rods received RHP Ethan Clark from Extended Spring. In two appearances with BG, Ramirez with 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA and a save. Clark, 22, was 7-2 with a 2.91 ERA with Princeton last year.

Baseball Prospectus : According to MLB.com, five of the Rays top-14 prospects in the organization are on the Hot Rods Opening Day Roster. Lowe (#6) and Whitley (#11) are joined by Jesus Sanchez (#7) in the outfield while Fox (#13) and 3B/SS Adrian Rondon (#14) headline the contingent in the infield. Bowling Green also has the reigning "Team MVP" for both the Princeton Rays in OF Eleardo Cabrera and the Hudson Valley Renegades with 1B Nathaniel Lowe.
