DAVENPORT, IA - Christopher Bostick's single in the top of the ninth inning brought in the go-ahead run for the Beloit Snappers as they stunned the Quad Cities River Bandits 3-2 at Modern Woodman Park on Sunday afternoon in Midwest League action.

The Snappers third victory in a row gives them sole possession of the Western Division wild card spot and puts their record at 24-18. The River Bandits are 23-19.

Lance McCullers (0-4) was throwing for Quad Cities in the ninth, trying to hold a 1-1 tie. He recorded the first two outs without incident, but Ryan Mathews and Brett Vertigan then drew walks. That's when Bostick (3-4, 2 RBI) provided the game's biggest hit, blooping a single into right for an RBI and an error on the play allowed Vertigan to race home as well.

In the bottom of the ninth, Dakota Bacus (4-1) was on the hill trying make the lead stand up, but, with two outs, a walk, a pair of singles and a stolen base tallied one run and put men on second and third. Bacus bore down and struck out Jesse Wierzbicki for the out that clinched the win.

Up until the ninth, excellent pitching from both teams was the story of the afternoon. For Beloit, the combination of starter Austin House and Bacus allowed one run on seven hits, walking four and striking out five through eight frames. The one run came on a fielder's choice in the fifth that scored Jobduan Morales.

Meanwhile, the River Bandits used three pitchers to hold the Snappers' lineup in check. Daniel Minor started and went four, giving up one run on an RBI single by Bostick. Reliever Richard Rodriguez tossed a scoreless fifth and McCullers took over from there. The righty started his appearance with three scoreless innings and was one out away from a fourth before it all fell apart.

Beloit will try to complete a four game sweep of Quad Cities on Monday, as the teams will get up early for an 11:00am match-up. On the bump for the Snappers will be RHP Raul Alcantara (5-1, 3.18 ERA) while RHP Mike Hauschild (2-0, 3.82 ERA) gets the nod for the River Bandits.
