
Lake County Takes Care of Fort Wayne 7-5

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - The Captains (15-25) blasted two homers and stole seven bases en route to a 7-5 win over the Fort Wayne TinCaps (24-16) at Classic Park in Eastlake. Richard Stock hit a two run homer in the bottom of the third inning. It was Stock's second hit of the ballgame and the Captains led 5-2 headed to the fifth inning.
Fort Wayne scored first. In the top of the opening inning, Mallex Smith reached base on a dropped third strike. Smith wtole second base and scored on a base hit from Maxx Tissenbaum. The score was 1-0 TinCaps. It became 2-0 Fort Wayne in the second inning. Alberth Martinez walked, and stole second base and scored on a double by Stephen Carmon.
Lake County scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Richard Stock doubled, Erik Gonzalez had a bunt single and each base runner came home on a three run opposite field homerun by Anthony Santander. The three runs shot gave Lake County the 3-2 lead.
In the fourth Inning, after the Stock homerun, Dorssys Paulino singled home two and the score was 7-2 Lake County. The TinCaps scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning but the Captains survived the comeback to win the ballgame 7-5 win.
RHP Michael Peoples (1-2) started for the Captains and did not get a decision. Peoples pitched four innings, and allowed three hits, two earned runs, one walk and six strikeouts. Robbie Aviles (1-0) earned his first professional win after pitching four innings of scoreless baseball. Aviles did not allow a hit. He walked three and struck out two. Felix Sterling allowed three runs in his only inning of work in the ninth.
Fort Wayne sent RHP Walker Weickel (0-2) to the mound. Weickel took the loss after surrendering seven earned runs, nine hits two walks and four strikeouts in three and one third innings pitched. Matthew Chabot pitched three and two thirds innings of scoreless baseball and Michael Kelly added a scoreless inning for Fort Wayne.
Monday, May 20 is Buck Night, presented by PNC, featuring $1 Five Star Brand Hot Dogs, Dan Dee chips, French fries, popcorn, soda and beer. Also, fans receive a $1 discount on their tickets or $2 off their tickets if they use a PNC Bank debit or credit card.
Monday is also Restaurant Appreciation Night when area restaurants will be saluted and many area restaurant employees will participate in in-game contests. In a role reversal, the restaurant employees will have vendors wait on them in their special section so they do no have to go to the concessions stands.
Lake County will start RHP Jake Sisco (1-2, 2.94) and Fort Wayne will counter with RHP Joe Ross (3-1, 3.11). The finale of the four game series will begin at 6:30 PM.
