Borrelli, Stirling Lead Falcons to 3-0 Win

Long Beach, Calif. - Dave Borrelli scored two goals, and Scott Stirling made 31 saves for his first shutout of the season, leading the Fresno Falcons to a 3-0 win over the Long Beach Ice Dogs in front of 2,423 fans at Long Beach Arena.

Fresno broke a scoreless tie at the 15:03 mark of the second period. Brian McConnell gathered in a loose puck on the near post, and was able to flip a shot past goaltender Mike Brown for the goal. Matt O'Dette, playing in his 500th professional game, recorded the lone assist on the goal.

The Falcons added to the lead at 19:13 with their league leading 16th shorthanded goal of the season. Brett Hammond skated into the left-wing circle of the Ice Dogs' end, and fed the puck for Borrelli on the near side. Borrelli beat Brown for his fourth goal of the season.

Borrelli scored his second of the night at 8:07 of the third to give Fresno a 3-0 lead. Tyler Kindle found Borrelli open on the near post, and the rookie was able to easily tap the puck into an open net.

The shutout was Stirling's 15th of his ECHL career, tying him with Frederic Cloutier for fifth place in league history.

The Falcons return to Save Mart Center on Tuesday, hosting Long Beach at 7:00 p.m. It's another Two for Tuesday, presented by Carl's Jr., KMPH Fox 26, and KRZR 103.7 FM. Fans can visit any area Carl's Jr. location and pick up a voucher allowing them to buy one ticket at regular price and get a second ticket for free.
