Salmon Kings add NCAA forward

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they have acquired Forward Rich Meloche in his professional debut.

Meloche, 22, began this season in his senior year with the Bowling Green State University Falcons (NCAA), and scored two goals.

The native of Oakville, ON began his career in the Ontario Provincial Junior ‘A' Hockey League with the Milton Merchants, and in 2002-03 tallied 105 points (49 goals, 56 assists) in just 49 games.

Moving into the NCAA, the 5-foot-11, 183-lb forward posted six goals (13 points) in his freshman season. Over the next two seasons with the Falcons he earned 23 points (14 goals, 9 assists) in 60 games.

"Rich is a hard-working player who has demonstrated in the past his ability to score goals," said Dan Belisle, Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager. "We welcome him to Victoria and are looking for him to add a spark to our frontline."

Meloche is active for tonight's home game versus the Bakerfield Condors at 7:05 p.m.

In other roster moves, Forward Greg Hornby is activated having served his league administered one game suspension, and Defenseman James DeMone has been suspended by the team. The 6-foot-6, 220-lb native of St. Albert, AB elected to play the remainder of the season in Europe.
