Green Bay Rockers News Release
ASHWAUBENON, Wis. - For the second night in a row, the Green Bay Booyah were victorious over the Madison Mallards after a walk-off.
The Booyah were down in the scoreboard after a half inning as the Mallards were able to see Matt Scannell drive in Drake Baldwin.
But Green Bay answered right back in the bottom of the inning when Dayson Croes (Quincy) knocked in Brendan Ryan (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) and Max Wagner (Clemson) drove in Dalton Pearson (Georgia State) to take the lead.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, with the bases loaded and after a pitching change that brought in a right-handed pitcher, the right-handed swinging Pearson connected on a two-run single that scored Nathan Blasick (West Virginia) and Elias Flowers (Jacksonville).
In the eighth inning, the Mallards were able to plate three men to even it and the momentum felt as if it was swaying towards Madison.
After coming up empty in the ninth, a clutch performance from Kyle Coates (Washington University in St. Louis) in the tenth left the Mallards go-ahead run stranded at third.
In the bottom half, Nadir Lewis (Princeton) was the runner at second to start the inning with Ryan leading off. Ryan hit one softly towards shortstop Nick Gonzalez and Lewis broke for third. The ball ate up Gonzalez and, in a last attempt to get an out, flipped it erroneously towards third. The ball rolled into the Booyah dugout to score Lewis and give Green Bay the winning run.
Evan Estridge (Clemson) pitched 6.1 innings and gave up just one run while striking out eight and walking two. He picks up a no-decision.
The Booyah will play their last home game before the All-Star Break on Saturday as they welcome the division leading Fond du Lac Dock Spiders for the first of a home-and-home series.
On Saturday, Dueling Pianos with the NEW Piano Guys, presented by Legend Larry's returns to Capital Credit Union Park. Also, Kids Run the Bases postgame, presented by Culver's and Y100FM. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
