Green Bay, Wis. - The Bombers rallied to score nine runs in the seventh inning to take the lead, and then pushed home two in the 10th inning to defeat the Bullfrogs 12-10 on Sunday.
RHP Matt Esparza got the start on the mound for Green Bay and gave up the first run of the game in the second inning on a RBI groundout from Drew Carlile for a 1-0 Bombers lead after two innings.
The Bullfrogs began their scoring in the bottom of the third inning. Robert Youngdahl had an RBI double to drive in Trevin Sonnier for the second straight night. That was followed quickly by a three run home run from Nick Torres for a 4-1 lead after the third.
Green Bay tallied two more in the fourth inning and one more in the sixth on an RBI single from Torres, who had six RBI on the afternoon. The Bullfrogs cruised into the seventh inning with a 7-1 lead.
However, the Green Bay defense faltered in the seventh inning, committing three errors that led to nine Bomber runs, only one of which was earned. Battle Creek sent 13 batters to the plate in the inning, and the Bullfrogs wound up using three pitchers to get through it. Battle Creek led 10-7 through seven innings.
The Bullfrogs weren't finished yet, however. Green Bay plated three more runs in the eighth inning, two of which came home on Torres' second home run of the game, to tie the game at 10-10.
After a scoreless ninth, the Bombers scored two in the top of the tenth off of reliever Will Landsheft when Cam Gibson, who now has a 23 game hitting streak, doubled to left-center field.
The Bullfrogs threatened in the bottom half of the inning, but wound up stranding two runners on the base paths to end the game. The Bombers won the rubber match by a score of 12-10.
The win went to reliever Kellen Urbon (1-0). The loss went to Landsheft (1-1) and the save to Gabe Berman (7).
The Bullfrogs round out a four game home stand on Monday against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. All fans in attendance will receive a Boomer White poster. Also, check out our Facebook and Twitter pages for a special promotion to be released.
