Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release

It was a pitchers duel Sunday night in Iowa, but the Border Cats came up short, falling 1-0 to the first place Waterloo Bucks. The Bucks, who captured the first half North Division title, ran their second half record to 11-1, while the Cats dropped to 3-8.

The Bucks scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they bunched three singles together with John Ziznewski collecting the game-winning RBI hit. Philip Lyons (Nicholls State University) went 2-3 at the plate for the Cats.

The Cats and Bucks conclude their two-game series tonight at 7:35pm ET. Steven Cazares (Sterling College) will make his second start of the season for Thunder Bay. The righthander is 0-1 with a 4.05 ERA.
