Blue Anchors Drop 1-0 Decision to Mankato

Mankato, MN-The Alexandria Blue Anchors lost a close 1-0 decision to the Mankato MoonDogs on Sunday in Mankato. The Blue Anchors fall to 3-8 in the second half, and 13-32 overall.

The lone offense came in the 2nd inning. Hibraim Cordova doubled to lead off the inning, and Quinnton Mack doubled to score Cordova to give Mankato the 1-0 lead. The Blue Anchors were unable to draw more than one hit in a inning for the rest of the game, and the one run was enough for Mankato.

Despite the loss, Corey Fitzgerald (0-5) went 6.1 innings, giving up one run on four hits. Fitzgerald also struck out four batters. On the offensive side, Andrew Sohn went 3 for 4, and Georgie Salem stole his 11th base of the season.

Minnesota Baseball Academy Player of the Game-Corey Fitzgerald (P)-Despite taking the loss, Fitzgerald had a quality start, going 6.1 innings, while giving up one run on four hits.

Notes-Tim Cusick picked up a hit to extend his hitting streak to five games...The one run allowed by Fitzgerald is the lowest amount for him since June 14th, when he gave up zero runs in 5.1 innings against Mankato...Tyler Curtis picked up his first double of the season in the game...The Blue Anchors are back at the Shipyard Monday, when they take on the Mankato MoonDogs at 7:05pm...Monday's are Kids Day at the Shipyard, all kids 12 and under get in for free...Monday is also Anytime Fitness Night, come out and test your fitness...The probably starter is Chase Rihtarchik (3-1, 3.34) and the game can be seen live at www.youtube.com/user/northwoodsleague
