Bridgeport Islanders News Release

The American Hockey League announced today that Bridgeport Sound Tigers center Eric Boguniecki has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending March 11.

Boguniecki had four goals and five assists for nine points in three home games against East Division rivals.

Boguniecki assisted the game-tying goal late in the third period of Friday's game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to help the Sound Tigers salvage a point in a 3-2 shootout loss. Boguniecki also scored in the shootout. He scored a goal and assisted on three others, including the eventual game-winner in a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms on Saturday. All of Boguniecki's points in Saturday's win came in the third period comeback. He scored a hat-trick and assisted the decisive tally in a 5-4 win over the Hershey Bears on Sunday.

The Sound Tigers earned five of a possible six points this week against teams battling either for home ice advantage or a spot in the playoffs. Bridgeport holds a one point lead on Albany for the fourth and final playoff spot.

A native of New Haven, Conn., Boguniecki has 21 goals and 28 assists for 49 points in 44 games as a Sound Tiger since being acquired by the New York Islanders from Columbus in late October. In recognition of his achievement, Boguniecki will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Sound Tigers home game.

The Sound Tigers visit the Albany River Rats Wednesday at 7 p.m. to begin a five-game road trip. The next home game is against the Portland Pirates on Saturday, March 24th at 7 p.m. Great seats are available at the Arena Box Office and group discounts are available for all home games by calling the Sound Tigers at 334-4625.
