Brockton Rox News Release

Brockton, MA (August 6, 2008) - Bobblection 2008 has arrived and fans will cast votes for the next president of the United States on Thursday, August 7th at Campanelli Stadium when the Brockton Rox host the Quebec Capitales. Fans will be ushered to electronic voting machines when they enter the gates where they will select a John McCain or Barack Obama Bobblehead to cast a vote in Bobblection Week.

Due to a rainout of Wednesday's scheduled game between the Rox and the Quebec Capitales, the polls will be opening earlier than previously scheduled. Polls will open at 4:05 PM for the scheduled first game of the doubleheader to begin at 5:05 PM.

The Rox have an equal number of McCain and Obama Bobbleheads. Each fan's selection of a Bobblehead will count as that particular candidate. The first candidate to run out of Bobbleheads will be declared the winner.

Bobblection Week 2008 will feature the six teams operated by the Goldklang Group, a sports entertainment consulting and management firm. The schedule is as follows:

August 6: New York (Hudson Valley Renegades)

August 7: Massachusetts (Brockton Rox)

August 8: South Carolina (Charleston RiverDogs)

August 9: Minnesota (St. Paul Saints)

August 10: South Dakota (Sioux Falls Canaries)

August 11: Florida (Ft. Myers Miracle)

Also included in the voting process, fans will have the opportunity to vote on several baseball related topics such as: determining home field advantage for the World Series, and whether or not to keep the designated hitter, and even how many tears have been shed at the departure of Manny Ramirez.

In the first Bobblection in 2004, George W. Bush won a narrow victory over John Kerry in the U.S. Presidential Election. National polls varied widely in the weeks leading up to the election as media outlets scrambled to predict which candidate would win.

Bush won in four of the seven participating ballparks in 2004. The closest race was in St. Paul, MN where Kerry won by 18 bobbleheads.
