Blunden Loaned to Crunch from Blue Jackets

Syracuse, NY (January 10, 2009) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired right wing Mike Blunden from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for right wing Adam Pineault. Blunden has been loaned to the Crunch from the Blue Jackets

Blunden, 22, has appeared in 37 games with Rockford this season, tallying three goals, seven assists and 42 penalty minutes. In parts of four seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks organization, Blunden has skated in 139 AHL games with Norfolk and Rockford, collecting 24 goals, 38 assists and 142 penalty minutes. In addition, he has appeared in 10 games with Chicago, recording 10 penalty minutes.

The 6-3, 207 lb. native of Toronto, Ontario, was drafted by Chicago in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch's next game is Friday, January 10 as they travel to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to battle the Penguins.
