WORCESTER, Mass. - Brett Westgarth's goal with 1:36 remaining in regulation sank the Lowell Devils as the Worcester Sharks sneaked away with a 2-1 win on Saturday at the DCU Center. Dave Caruso made 34 saves for Lowell as their three-game winning streak came to an end.

After an icing brought a faceoff back into the Devils' zone, the Sharks won the ensuing draw and worked the puck up top to Westgarth. His blast from the point sailed past traffic in front and a screened Caruso for the decisive goal.

Worcester broke a scoreless tie at 2:28 of the second when Andrew Desjardins' shot from the top of the far circle popped up off of Caruso's shoulder and was tapped in by a crashing T.J. Fox.

The Devils needed only two minutes to tie it back up as Nicklas Bergfors starting things by stealing a pass at the Sharks' blueline and drawing a hooking call. During the delayed penalty, Bergfors hit Anssi Salmela coming off the bench and the defenseman blew a slapshot past Thomas Greiss for his sixth goal of the season.

Lowell was otherwise unable to capitalize on four power play opportunities, but was a perfect 6-for-6 on the penalty kill. It was the Sharks' fourth straight victory against the Devils this season.

The Devils finish their three-game, three-day weekend on Sunday, January 11 at 4:05 p.m versus the Providence Bruins.
