Houston Aeros News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - The Houston Aeros were defeated 3-1 by the Quad City Flames Saturday night at i wireless Center extending the Aeros' winless streak to six games (0-4-0-2). Warren Peters scored late in the third period to break a 1-1 tie and lift the Flames to victory. Goaltender Nolan Schaefer stopped 25 of 27 shots in the loss and Matt Beaudoin scored the only goal for Houston (17-17-1-7) who will end their eight-game road trip tomorrow night in Chicago at 6:00 p.m. CST.

The Aeros and Flames tried to impose their will early in the first period with the teams each having a handful of scoring chances. Quad City finally unlocked the scoreless tie at the 12:52 mark of the period when Brett Sutter banged home a rebound in a scrum in front of Schaefer. The goal was Sutter's second of the season and it marked the fifth time in the past seven games Houston has given up the first goal. Quad City finished the first period outshooting the Aeros 9-4 having earned two power plays. Houston killed both penalties, but found themselves down a goal after a period.

The Aeros were awarded three power plays in the second period but couldn't capitalize on any of the chances. Quad City held the edge in shots after two periods at 17-11 and continued to hold on to the lead 1-0.

Houston came out in the third period with a lot of intensity and it paid off halfway through when Beaudoin scored his first American Hockey League goal. Beaudoin came down the slot with speed on a two-on-two. When Morten Madsen blasted a shot from the left wing, Beaudoin was there to pick up the rebound and lift it over Irving. Aeros' defenseman Brandon Rogers earned the second assist on the play. At the 16:01 mark, Peters crashed the net on another scrum in front of Schaefer and the puck trickled over the goal line as the net came off its moorings. The goal by Peters stood as the game-winning goal, but Sutter added an empty netter to finish the scoring at 3-1.

Notes:

- The loss brought the Aeros winless streak to six games (0-4-0-2), the longest such streak Houston has seen in the last two seasons.

- Houston has allowed the first goal in five of the seven games of the current road trip. The Aeros are 0-4-0-1 in those five games.

- Matt Beaudoin's goal was his second point in only three games with the Aeros. Beaudoin was called up from ECHL Las Vegas.
