Bridgeport, CT, January 10, 2009: Second-period goals by Trevor Smith and Ben Walter proved decisive in a 2-1 win for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers over the Hartford Wolf Pack Saturday at the Arena at Harbor Yard.

Nathan Lawson made 33 saves to get the win in the Bridgeport net. Artem Anisimov scored the only Wolf Pack goal.

After a scoreless first period, Bridgeport was awarded a five-on-three power play of 1:48 in the second when Corey Potter was called for hooking at 4:58 and Patrick Rissmiller was hit with a delay-of-game call for putting the puck out of play at 5:10. The Sound Tigers cashed in at 6:04, when Smith, their leading goal-scorer, had a shot from the left point by Chris Lee hit him in the leg and go into net. The goal was Smith's 19th of the year.

Walter made it a 2-0 Bridgeport lead with 1:13 remaining in the period, putting a second rebound up and over Wolf Pack goaltender Matt Zaba. Sean Bentivoglio got the first whack at the puck after Jesse Joensuu unloaded a shot from the right-wing circle, and Zaba stopped Bentivoglio's try but could not control the rebound.

Anisimov increased his team-leading goal total to 18 for the Wolf Pack at 10:02 of the third period. Brodie Dupont worked the puck free below the goal line to Anisimov, whose wraparound shot went between Lawson and the goalpost to his left.

Hartford outshot Bridgeport 9-4 in the third but could not get anything else past Lawson. Zaba made 24 saves in the Wolf Pack net, one night after his first AHL shutout in a 1-0 overtime win in Springfield.
