CHARLESTON, WV - Aided by some sloppy West Virginia defense and a Jonathan Singleton grand slam, the BlueClaws crushed the Power 11-5 to take over sole possession of first in the South Atlantic League North Division.

The Power committed three errors in the 8th inning, helping load the bases for Singleton. The BlueClaws first baseman made them pay by blasting his seventh homer of the season into the parking lot in right to make it an 11-5 game.

Singleton went 2-for-4 on the night with five RBIs. He's now hitting .407 on the season.

Lakewood's three-run rally in the top of the 7th to take a 6-5 lead was also helped out by some shoddy West Virginia defense.

After the first two batters walked, Jonathan Villar laid down a sacrifice bunt that relief pitcher Gabriel Alvarado (1-4) airmailed over the first baseman's head. Two runs scored and the game was tied.

Sebastian Valle singled in the go-ahead run later that inning to make it 6-5. Valle went 3-for-5 on the night, driving in three and hitting his team-leading eighth homer of the season in the 6th.

The BlueClaws jumped ahead in the 1st, scoring two runs on four hits. Jonathan Singleton had an RBI single and Valle doubled in a run.

West Virginia tied the game with one run in the 2nd and one more in the third, but Valle's 6th inning home run put Lakewood back on top. The lead wouldn't last.

Julio Rodriguez came into the game in relief of starter Jonathan Pettibone, but surrendered a three-run blast to Kyle Morgan in the 6th that turned a 3-2 Lakewood lead into a 5-3 deficit. However the BlueClaws rallied back to score the last eight runs in the game.

Josh Zeid (4-2) pitched 2 1/3 scoreless for the win. Pettibone made his second start since coming off the DL, but only lasted three innings giving up three runs (two earned) and walking three.

The BlueClaws now have Sunday off before coming home to wrap up the first half with a seven game homestand. Monday night at 7:05 pm Lakewood RHP Jarred Cosart (7-1, 3.34) faces Lexington Legends RHP Robert Donovan (6-4, 2.63).
