Rome, GA - The Greenville Drive defeated the Rome Braves8-3 Saturday night in front of 4,194 fans at State Mutual Stadium. The Braves dropped the final two games of the series after shutting out the Drive 5-0 in game one on Thursday.

Rome took the lead in the fourth inning 1-0 when Cory Harrilchak single and later scored on a Robert Hefflinger groundout. Greenville tied the game in the fifth when Reymond Fuentes singled and scored on a Vladimir Frias sacrifice fly RBI.

The Braves would take the lead back at 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth when Jace Whitmer singled, then after a Chris Lovett double, Whitmer was brought home on an RBI single to left from Chris Curley. A Greenville RBI single off the bat of Michael Almanzar in the sixth plated Derrik Gibson to tie the game at 2-2.

Greenville would break the tie in the seventh to take the lead 4-2 on a balk with the bases loaded followed by an RBI sacrifice fly from Gibson to plate Michael Thomas.

The Drive added four additional runs for the 8-2 score in the ninth highlighted by a two RBI triple from Michael Almanzar. The Braves scored a final run in the bottom of the ninth when Christian Bethancourt singled and scored on a Curley RBI single with Greenville holding on for the 8-3 win.

Jeremiah Bayer (2-1) picks up the win for Greenville while Rome's Jeff Lorick (1-2) gets the loss. Rome has an off day tomorrow before travelling to Savannah for a three game series. The Braves return to State Mutual Stadium on Thursday June 17th at 7pm for a series against Charleston.
