BlueClaws to Host High School Showcase October 6-7
August 30, 2012 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws will host the first "BlueClaws Baseball Academy Showcase" on October 6-7 at FirstEnergy Park.
The showcase will offer local high school players a chance perform in front of college coaches and perhaps open the door for an opportunity to play collegiate baseball.
Registration is at 8 am each day and the showcase runs from 9 am - 2 pm. Day One will include a dynamic stretch and 60 yard dash for all players followed by positional workouts, bullpen sessions and hitting. Day Two will include games all day with participants broken up into different teams.
"We're very excited to bring this unique event to FirstEnergy Park," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "We're going to have a great list of college coaches and because of our central location in New Jersey, the event is accessible for players throughout the state."
Registration is $295 per player and can be made by calling Sarah Wasser at 732-901-7000 ext 193.
Joe Agnello, who most recently worked for Major League Baseball Development in China and has a combined eight years of collegiate coaching experience at Temple University, Stevens Institute of Technology, and Brookdale Community College, is the Camp Director and can be reached at jagnello@blueclaws.com.
The Lakewood BlueClaws are the Jersey Shore's top stop for affordable family entertainment. They recently welcomed their 5-millionth fan and became the fastest team in New Jersey and South Atlantic League history to do so.
The team announced in June that they will host the 2013 South Atlantic League All-Star Game, presented by Community and Kimball Medical Centers, OceanFirst Bank, and Shore Point Distributing Company.
