Rome Emperors News Release

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves were defeated by the Augusta GreenJackets 5-1Thursday night in the final home game of the 2012 regular season at State Mutual Stadium. The Braves pitching staff struggled by issuing a total of eleven free passes; nine walks and two hit batters.

Augusta's first run came in the second inning after A.J. Holland issued two walks and hit two batters for the early 1-0 lead. Rome tied the game in the third on a Tony Mueller RBI single. Mueller was the lone bright spot for Rome going 3-5 with an RBI. The Braves' offense only had three runners reach third and left nine runners stranded. The GreenJackets added two in the fourth and Elliott Blair (3) added two more in the seventh with a two run home run for the 5-1final.

Holland (4-9) had his worst outing of the month as he threw four innings, walked six, hit two and allowed three earned runs in the loss. Nate Hyatt was impressive in relief as he pitched two innings; faced six batters and struck out five. Adalberto Mejia (10-7) struck out five in seven innings to get the win for Augusta.

The Rome Braves travel to Lexington for a five game series in four days to finish the 2012 regular season. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
