Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
SALISBURY, MD. - Three runs in the 7th inning capped a comeback effort by Delmarva in their 6-4 victory over the BlueClaws Thursday night.
Aaron Altherr's eighth home run of the season turned a 2-2 game into a 4-2 lead for Lakewood in the 5th inning. Delmarva cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning before plating three runs off starter Lino Martinez and Felix Santos in the bottom of the 7th inning. Santos (0-2) picked up his second loss as a BlueClaw, and he allowed two runs in 2.0 innings after allowing just two earned runs in his first 20.0 innings with the team.
Lakewood was looking for their first series sweep of at least three games since June 2011 when the BlueClaws swept the Hagerstown Suns in a four-game series. The loss also means Lakewood did not record three straight wins on the road at any point in the 2012 season.
The BlueClaws head home after the game for the final series of the 2012 season. The BlueClaws host the Greensboro Grasshoppers Friday through Monday in a four-game series at FirstEnergy Park. Lakewood sends Hoby Milner (5-3, 2.86) to the mound against Greensboro's Jake Esch (1-2, 3.16). Milner has not allowed an earned run in four of his previous six starts and is 3-1 with a 1.30 ERA over that time, while Esch has allowed one earned run in his last two starts which have beach been 7.0 innings.
First pitch for Friday's game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on WOBM 1160-AM and WOBM 1310-AM beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the BlueClaws Beat pre-game show.
