SALISBURY, MD -- It may have taken two days to finish, but the BlueClaws finally won their first game of the second half of the seasom, 5-2 over the Delmarva Shorebirds (Orioles).

Play was suspended on Thursday night because of rain and resumed Friday with no score in the top of the 3rd with one out.

The BlueClaws (1-0) drew first blood, with Sebastian Valle bringing in a run on a sacrifice fly in the 4th. Delmarva (0-1) tied the game in the 5th, but a big 6th inning put Lakewood up for good.

The Claws loaded the bases with no outs, and Anthony Hewitt hit a sac-fly to make it a 2-1 game. Later Alan Schoenberger delivered a two-run double to extend the lead to three.

The Shorebirds cut their deficit to two in the 6th, but that was as close as they would get. Lakewood added an insurance run on a 9th inning RBI double by Leandro Castro.

Jordan Ellis pitched a scoreless 9th for his seventh save. Jonathan Pettibone (3-2) allowed just two runs in 6 innings for his third win.
