Oklahoma City Blue News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue fell to the Texas Legends, 88-85, on Friday while playing at Chesapeake Energy Arena. Five Blue players scored in double figures, including Oklahoma City Thunder assignment Josh Huestis with 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks in 30 minutes.
Dwight Buycks led Oklahoma City with 17 points while fellow guard Marquis Teague tallied 13 points, six assists and five rebounds. Talib Zanna secured his seventh double-double in the past eight games, posting 10 points and 19 rebounds while swiping three steals. Dakari Johnson collected a double-double of his own with 10 points and 10 boards.
As a team, the Blue outrebounded the Legends 58-36, grabbing 19 offensive boards.
Neither side led by more than eight points in a contest that featured 10 lead changes. Oklahoma City held a 52-50 advantage at the half before both teams registered 16 points in defensive-heavy third quarter. The Blue held an 82-79 lead with three minutes remaining but the Legends finished the game on a 9-3 run to take the win.
"We played a close game but weren't able to execute down the stretch," said Blue Interim Head Coach Jarell Christian. "We have three games remaining in our season that we can continue to use to develop as a team. We'll look to learn from this loss and continue to work towards improvement."
Oklahoma City (19-28) blocked 10 shots and limited the Legends to three second-chance points.
Texas (22-25) was led by Andre Dawkins with 22 points.
The Blue is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 8 p.m. on ESPNU. For ticket information, visit OklahomaCityBlue.com.
