
Austin Spurs Fall to Maine Red Claws

CEDAR PARK, Texas - Deshaun Thomas posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds and teammate Demetri McCamey recorded a season-high 25 points as the Austin Spurs (26-20) fell to the Maine Red Claws (29-19) 120-113 on Friday night at Cedar Park Center.
Keifer Sykes recorded 17 points for Austin and teammate Cady Lalanne tallied 13 points.
Levi Randolph paced Maine with a season and team-high 29 points and Boston Celtics assignee Coty Clarke contributed 21 points in the winning effort.
Austin controlled the start of the first quarter leading 15-6 with seven minutes remaining. Maine would fight back to tie the game at 19-19 with three minutes left to play behind a two-point basket by Corey Walden. Austin regained the lead and finished the quarter leading, 30-22.
Maine set the pace in the second scoring eight unanswered points in the first four minutes. The team would maintain control through the quarter outscoring Austin 40-21. Clarke and teammate Randolph each posted 10 points. Maine scored 18 points in the paint (9-of-15), compared to Austin's 6 points in the paint (3-of-8). Maine led Austin 62-51 at the half and led by as many as 13 in the quarter.
Maine maintained the lead in the third, 86-73. Austin shot 35 percent (7-of-20) from the field, while Maine shot 44 percent (8-of-18).
Austin battled back in the fourth outscoring Maine 40-34, coming as close as four with thirty seconds remaining but falling short 113-120.
