Blue Crabs Rally in Ninth Inning to Beat Patriots 4-3

Bridgewater, NJ- The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs defeated the Somerset Patriots 4-3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday evening.

The Blue Crabs rallied for three runs in the ninth on RBI hits by Cyle Hankerd and Brandon Jones and an RBI fielder's choice by Alvin Colina to regain the lead and make the score 4-3.

Southern Maryland took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a solo homerun by Colina (2).

A three run blast by Corey Smith (1) over the left field wall in the bottom half of the fifth put the Patriots on top 3-1.

Blue Crabs reliever Kyle Zalewski (1-0) got the win after tossing a scoreless eighth inning. Patriots closer Jon Hunton (0-2) blew his second save of the season to pick up the loss after surrendering two runs on three hits and retiring two batters. Jim Ed Warden picked up his fifth save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth inning.
