Three-Run Seventh Lifts Ducks over Revs

Long Island Ducks News Release

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 14, 2013) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 8-7 on Tuesday night in the first game of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

York scratched out a run in the second on a RBI double by Tyler Graham off Ducks starter Dontrelle Willis, but Long Island answered with two in the third to take the lead. A two-run double to center by Ray Navarrete off York starter Nick Green did the damage.

The Revolution would re-take the lead with a three-run fourth inning, but the Ducks stormed back for three of their own in the bottom of the frame. A RBI single by Gabe Suarez and a two-run triple from Dan Lyons highlighted the scoring. York immediately took the lead back with three in the fifth, thanks in part to a pair of Ducks errors, but the Flock would answer again in the seventh. RBI doubles by P.J. Phillips and Ralph Henriquez along with a run-scoring single from Navarrete put the Ducks on top for good.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Willis allowed seven runs (two earned) on 10 hits in four and one-third innings while Green yielded five runs (four earned) on seven hits in six innings. T.J. Hose (1-1) got the win after throwing a scoreless seventh inning, while Stephen Penney (1-2) suffered the loss, surrendering a run on two hits in one inning of relief. Leo Rosales earned his fifth save with a perfect ninth.

Danny Perales led the Ducks with three hits at the plate while Navarrete drove in three runs.
