Revolution Pitcher Matt Fox Signed by Mets

(York, Pa.): The contract of York Revolution starting pitcher Matt Fox has been purchased by the New York Mets. Fox is the third member of the 2013 Revolution roster to sign with a Major League organization this season, and the second pitcher. Right-handed relief pitcher Josh Judy was acquired by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on May 2 and outfielder/first baseman Johan Limonta went to the San Diego Padres on May 7.
Fox, 30, made four starts with York and excelled with a 1.58 ERA. In 17 innings he allowed just 15 hits and three walks, with 18 strikeouts.
The University of Central Florida alum reached the Majors in 2010 with both Boston and Minnesota, making one big league start for the Twins, the organization that drafted him in the first round of the 2004 draft out of UCF. After going to the Red Sox, he made three appearances out of their bullpen in '10.
For his minor league career, Fox entered this season 45-36 with a 3.78 ERA, and won a career-high 10 games at Triple-A Pawtucket in the Red Sox organization in 2011. He spent last season in the Seattle Mariners organization.
The 6'3" right-hander will look to become the fifth Revolution alum to make it to the Major Leagues after playing in York. Three former Revolution alums (Justin Hampson, Mets LHP), Shawn Hill, Blue Jays RHP) and Scott Rice (Mets LHP) have all reached the Majors since last June alone.
